Im using a sstab on a form i created how do i code the tabs so when i click on one a form will pop up? I can work my way around VB im a beginner and can use some help please

Double-clicking on the tab (not any other control) will bring up the default event handler - which should be the Click event. If not, you can select it in the code window that was just shown by selecting the Click event from the top right down down box. Once selected, you should see something like; Private Sub SSTabPage1_Click()End Sub In order to display another form, you will need to write code here. Assuming you have another form called Form2, then you can insert code like the following; Private Sub SSTabPage1_Click() Form2.ShowEnd Sub Keep in mind that my examples here might need to be changed slightly as I don't have VB6 installed on my machine to give you a copy/paste solution. The examples should point you in the right direction though ~To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion~

Posts: 14 May 25 09 12:00 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi diskjunky, this is the code that comes in properties up when i double click the sstab Private Sub SSTab1_Click(PreviousTab As Integer) End Sub i added the Form2.Show and it works it shows form 2...but it shows form 2 no matter what tab i click on....how can i code it so when i click on a tab a diff form shows up example: there are now 3 tabs if i click on tab one show form 2 if i click on tab 2 show form 3 etc....

Posts: 14 May 25 09 2:39 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi xardoz, that worked fine thank you i knew you can use case but its been awhile i didnt remember how to code it correctly... one more question... when the project starts the focus is on the first tab when i click on it ..it does not show the form at all but when you click through the tabs and take the focus off the tab and go back it will work any ideas on how to correct this.

In the event where you have the Select Case statement, at the top put "If _formLoading Then Exit Sub" ~To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion~

Posts: 14 May 26 09 7:08 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi diskjunky you lost me there...i dont have anything in form loading and am a little rusty with module variables....is there a straight forward way to get it to work.... i got it to work by using this code in the double click event Private Sub SSTab1_DblClick() SSTab1.Tab = 0 Form2.Show End Sub not sure if its the proper way but i was able to get it to work any ideas on the code if its right or wrong or is it as long as it works its good to use

Posts: 14 May 27 09 11:02 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have 3 tabs on form1...when i click on a tab i want a different form to open ...with the following code i was able to get it to work Private Sub SSTab1_Click(PreviousTab As Integer) Select Case SSTab1.Tab Dim o As Integer Case 0 Form2.Show Case 1 Form3.Show Case 2 Form4.Show End Select End Sub BUT when i click on the first tab (case0) to show form2 at project start up it does not work until the focus is taken off it by clicking another tab and then i can click on first tab and it will work...i noticed no matter what tab the focus is on ( case 0,1 or 2) at project start up i have the same problem you cant click on it to show a form until the focus is taken off it....i was able to get it to work using .. Private Sub SSTab1_DblClick() SSTab1.Tab = 0 Form2.Show End Sub I think this works only because the first click takes the focus off the tab and the second click actually executes the code in the case statement..

Posts: 4759 May 27 09 11:58 PM Sage Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	in your second post, you're telling the computer to always set the selected tab to 0 and then show Form2. In the first post (of the two above), you're telling it what to happen for specific tabs. From the problem you describe though, it would seem that it would be best to ensure that the SSTab control does NOT have focus by default. You can do this by setting the TabIndex property in the designer. Just make sure a different control (eg a button or something) has the TabIndex 0. This should mean that the tab will trigger the Click event when you click on it. The fact that it doesn't trigger the Click while having focus intitially is a bug in the control - not much we can do about that I'm afraid except work around it ~To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion~

Posts: 14 May 28 09 8:46 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi dickjunky, I thought the same thing i changed the tab index to 0 for the exit button on the form and still the same problem....i guess it is a bug in the control and try to find a work around for it or just redesign the form to do what i need it to do maybe command buttons instead of the tabs ill have to keep plugging at it at least for now...im open for more suggestions if any has any for a work around in keeping the tabs...thanks for the advice and help

Probably the easiest and most effective would be to hook into the tab control using the API, detect the WM_MOUSE_DOWN event and do what you need to do. I'm not sure how comfortable you'd be with the API though ~To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion~

API never worked with it but its all about learning new things im always willing to try and learn new things i really appreciate the help if you have the time and paience ill try it...ill look around and read up on using API as well so as not to seem like to much of a beginner LOL
